Privacy Policy for CarDaig OBD2 Fault Fix

Last Updated: July 3, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how CarDaig (operated by Nabil Massaoudi, "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information when you use our mobile application, CarDaig OBD2 Fault Fix (the "App").

1. Information We Do NOT Collect Directly:

CarDaig OBD2 Fault Fix is primarily an offline OBD2 code lookup tool. We want to assure you that:

  • We DO NOT collect any personal identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, phone number, physical address, or precise location data.

  • We DO NOT connect directly to your vehicle's OBD2 port. Our App requires you to manually enter OBD2 fault codes that you obtain from a separate physical OBD2 scanner.

  • We DO NOT collect your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), vehicle make, model, or year.

  • We DO NOT collect live vehicle data (e.g., RPM, speed, sensor readings).

  • We DO NOT require user accounts or logins.

2. Information We May Collect (Non-Personal):

While we do not collect personal data, we may collect the following non-personal information to improve the App's functionality and user experience:

  • Entered OBD2 Fault Codes: When you manually enter an OBD2 fault code into the App for lookup, this code (e.g., "P0420") is processed within your device to retrieve definitions and potential fixes. These codes may be stored locally on your device in your "History" and "Favorites" sections for your convenience. We do not transmit these codes to our servers.

  • App Usage Data (Aggregated & Anonymous): We may use standard, privacy-focused analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics for Firebase, if implemented) to collect aggregated and anonymized data about how the App is used. This may include:

    • Which features are used most often (e.g., lookup, history, favorites).

    • App crash reports.

    • Device type and operating system version (e.g., Android 12, Samsung Galaxy).

    • This data is used solely to understand user behavior in aggregate and improve the App's performance and features. It cannot be used to identify individual users.

3. How We Use Information:

The limited non-personal information we may collect is used for the following purposes:

  • To provide the core functionality of the App (i.e., looking up OBD2 codes and displaying relevant information).

  • To personalize your experience by allowing you to store a history and favorites of looked-up codes on your device.

  • To analyze and improve the App's performance, stability, and features.

  • To diagnose and fix technical issues.

4. Data Storage and Security:

  • Local Storage: All OBD2 fault codes you enter and save in "History" or "Favorites" are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this data.

  • We implement reasonable measures to protect the information processed by the App from unauthorized access or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

5. Third-Party Services:

We do not currently integrate with third-party services that collect user data for advertising or other commercial purposes. If we integrate with any analytics services in the future (as mentioned in Section 2), we will ensure they comply with privacy best practices and maintain data anonymity.

6. Children's Privacy:

Our App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently received personal information from a user under the age of 13, we will delete such information from our records.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy:

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
